Its high time I say some bad things about apple and more in specific about iPhone. I keep reading all around the web & magazines about the revolutionary services of iPhone. Time after time after time, the pattern is the same, people’s participation in the development of a plethora of free or paid applications that can cover everybodys needs. However, I beg to differ. I have bought an iPhone and after more than 4 months of use I have to say that it lacks severely in basic programs such as document editing. While the competition (Blackberry, HTC ) already offes such accomodations without the need of extra cost. Apple chooses to blindfold itself letting freelance developers to fill in the gap.
I wonder how come a market leader with expertise and proven history of complete product line, fails greatly in developing a more robust highend product. Even more I cannot seem to find any reactions to that, paying the price of a low range PC must cover my basic and hopefully more advanced needs. Regardless of the innovation & beauty of iPhone, it still needs to work on the basic issues before competing with the other highend mobile in the market.

After Mykonos & Ksylokastro it was Lefkadas turn for a short visit. Deciding as always at the last minute to visit a friend, who is working for the season at the No 1 beach all over Europe for windsurfing. Vasiliki beach, while rather swallow for my taste, is an excellent, clean & board-crowded beach. I really enjoyed the hundreds windsurfers trying to tame the high wind present in the area. A real optasy…
On Saturday the day was a little different at Kathisma beach. A lot of sunbathing along with some intense racket balling were the main activities for the early hours. At this point, I have to note that the water was really dirty leaving you a bad impression about the islands’ waters. The sunbathing ended when we realized the presence of Colpa where we drunk the best Mojhito ever, cudos to the guys there. A lot of good music, young faces and an excellent aora that was improssible to sleep on since I found myself on the ground twice just trying to get up on it.  ;)

Next stop Sifnos!!!! Then who knows Parga? Lefkada again ? or Tinos??? Any suggestions…

Hello hello, I recently installed xobni in the office and I wanted to share a few words on this little program.

It doesn’t offer anything that you cannot find already among the options of outlook, however, it does with great ease is to provide fast access to past conversations and files that you have exchanged with your contacts. This how simple it may seem it is a brilliant way to work.

I have found myself several times unable to locate either emails, or files from colleagues or associates that were crucial and needed immediate action. Due to vast email volume it was an inconvenient and time consuming task, with this little plug-in though you can locate files and previous conversations in a flash.

I recommend everyone trying it at least for a trial period and tell me his opinion. The plug-in, which is free, consumes little system resources and gives a new look to your outlook.

Sunday morning and I was surfing the net coming across “Flare Facade“.  What is it? Well the truth is that after Crysis (the game), everybody wondered what it would be like to do the same at a building… No, i am just joking. Flare Facade is a series of metal flakes all attached to a computer programmed mechanism that moves each one in certain patterns so as to reflect sunlight creating moving patterns at the exterior surface of a building. All this creates amazing and endless patterns mixing with the surrounding environment. check the link above to see if its worth it.

These past few days I try to figure out how to better manage my little free time. Reading and implementing time management patterns seems to have little effect over a long period of time. The way I see it, there are times that your body wants one thing and your mind a completely different thing. No matter how much you pressure yourself, you can’t reach maximum output for the simple (from my point of view) reason that you may find yourself enacting with not attractive to you issues. Being honest I haven’t found a way to surrpass this. What I try to do is putting myself in situations & conditions close to the ones I want to have. Sometimes it works, some others it doesn’t. The thing I do know is that almost everything is possible and finetunning your cogs may result in better balance and self-achievement levels.

Finally, I want to propose one small thing. Don’t get accustomed to habbits. Try different things no matter how ackward they may seem.

I stabbled upon a series of newsfeed about the creation of a new hi- tech institute in Europe, providing a high amount of financial resources for its development. Digging a bit more, I read that the initial idea was concieved by Mr. Barroso on February 2005 and only after 3 years it was approved by the Council common position.  So much for innovation. 

It’s always good to hear that initiatives are made towards IT-R&D-etc development especialy if these are initiatives that are going to be supported whole-hearted. However, I have the impression that all these initiatives of the European Union are all dissemination stunts and nothing else. No true essense to these actions. Similar to the EU Programmes initiatives, where the proper execution of a project is more important than its result… :S Nevertheless, I have supportive mentality towards the EU initiatives, even though most of the times these initiatives do not reach the target market inititialy aimed for.

Crumpler laptop bag

While searching for my next e-buy I came across this little laptop bag roundup at the excellent site of Trusted Reviews. Although I would like to see more laptop bags I was happily surprised when noticed that they started the roundup with the Crumpler brand. I own a Crumpler bag and had posted about it in the past.

The only downside is that it is not a business laptop bag and in the office many look at you like the black sheep, but I am happy owning one of these accessories.
